Website Checklist:

Answer each question with a yes or no.  The first set of questions will help determine if the site is easy to use.  The second set will help determine if the information is valid.

Set 1

  • Is the website pleasing to the eye?  Do the pictures and formulas open quickly?
  • Is it easy to navigate through the site?  Are the links easily found?  Can you easily get back to the homepage?
  • Are the topics listed?  Or can you do a search of the site to find the topic you need?
  • Is the site free to use?  Are the downloadables/printables free?
  • Can you find useful information quickly?
Set 2
  • Is the author listed?  Is there a way to contact the author?
  • Is the date of content current?  Has it been updated recently?  (Depending on what you are looking for, this may not matter.)
  • Are there sources listed that were used to develop the content?
  • Is there a school or organization affiliated with the site?
  • Are there links to other credible sites?
You should be answering all of these questions with a 'yes'.  If you have one 'no', the website is still probably OK.  If you have more than one 'no', you may want to look for another site.
